The entry-level leisure biking segment will see new TVS cruisers to get a chunk of the booming market
The motorcycle market is changing and so is the preferences of the riders. Where in the bygone days only the sportbikes would excite the riders largely, the current masses have started to opt the comfortable and easy-going cruisers bikes. TVS seems to have done this survey and is now known to be planning to launch two new cruiser motorcycles, one with a 200cc engine and the other powered by a 310cc motor.
Yes, what you are thinking is right. The former will carry the Apache RTR 200’s tried and tested mill while the latter will share that of the sensational Apache RR310. Except for the engine, perhaps everything is going to be changed. Both the motorcycles will boast of retro classic design but with a modern touch.
The upcoming motorcycles will be based on the TVS Zeppelin Concept recently showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. Standing Flamboyantly, it attracted a lot of attention from the visitors. Despite being a relaxed cruiser, it boasts of sporty stance which is quite a reminiscence of the Harley-Davidson Street Rod 750, at least on the tail section. The headlamp of the concept is a hexagonal unit, apparently with LED lights and carries tiny instrument cluster above. The overall design of the concept model looks highly radical which could be simplified on the production version. We wish the alluring golden front forks should be retained.
The bike with the smaller engine will lock horns with the highly successful Bajaj Avenger 220. Looking at the popularity of the latter, it’s going to be a tough fight. The elder sibling will rival the yet another market leader Royal Enfield which wouldn’t be an easy cookie to crack.
Royal Enfield may see several competitors coming face to face in the coming days. Honda is also readying its Rebel 300 which is currently on sale in Japan. TVS’s cruiser motorcycles may take time to arrive but looking at the Apache RR310, it can be said that the bikemaker has got damn serious about rolling out admirable products.
