Hero MotoCorp is, no doubt, the top most two-wheeler manufacturer of the Indian market which stands with 50 percent share. While the company continues to dominate the market, it also sees a competitor in the offing advancing towards it and it is none other than the Honda. Scooters and motorcycles from Honda are improving day by day in terms of sales and which is why Hero feels the need to move further in terms of products. As per reports obtained, three new Hero scooters are currently on the list of the company for coming fiscal year which will be rivalling the phenomenal Honda scooters.
An official from the manufacturing department of Hero MotoCorp has released a statement that the company will be launching a new scooter by the end of this year and two more models will wait for the financial year 2018-19. The mopeds which are lined up for the coming days will join the company’s current fleet of three scooters including Hero Maestro Edge, Duet and Pleasure.
The scooters offered by Hero at present are 100 and 110cc models and the upcoming mopeds will probably have the same capacity engine. A 125cc gearless machine can be expected to become a close rival to the Honda Activa 125.Apart from the scooter category, it has also been stated by the Hero MotoCorp spokesperson that the company will also introduce a premium motorcycle, may be an offering with a 200cc engine which is the most hallowed segment these days in India.
In the scooter segment, while Honda has 50 percent share in the Indian market, Hero MotoCorp bags a share of only 12 percent. TVS Motors is ahead of Hero with 15 percent share. Looking at these figures, it appears clearly that the company needs to work on this niche and these three new Hero scooters might prove an effective step towards inprovement.
