Hero Electric unveiled three new electric two-wheelers consisting of two electric bicycles and one scooter. Additionally, the company stated that the Indian bikemaker has a plan of investing around Rs. 700 crores on the production and development of their electric two-wheeler division.
Hero Electric will be developing and introducing several models in the coming years which will include bicycles and electric scooters. The company has a finalized plan for the next five years and for that, it has the development roadmap with the earmarked Rs. 700 crores. Moreover, the company also has plans for the products for coming ten years.
Apart from the plans for electric scooters, the company also has in mind the concepts of electric motorcycles which they will launch later. As of now, all the focus is inclined towards the production of scooters. Statistically, Hero is the largest electric two-wheeler seller in India apart from being the leading motorcycle maker. The company has set up over 350 dealerships for its electric products across the nation and has the customer base of more than 2,00,000.
Among the three products the company has unveiled, the scooter is capable of reaching the top speed of 85 kmph which is commendable for an electric scooter. That’s courtesy to the motor which is supplied by the Hero’s Taiwanese and Chinese partners. However, the overall design of the scooters is executed by Hero at its R&D division.
Electric scooters are the future of convenient and compact mobility. Despite being one of the must successful combustion engine powered two-wheeler seller, Hero is also focussing on electric scooters diligently. This shows Hero’s aspiration of not taking off the crown of the leading bike and scooter seller in the country even in the coming years. However, Indian has several other highly potent brands such Honda and Bajaj who always give close competition to Hero in sales. It remains to be seen which bike brand joins the race of the environment-friendly two-wheelers.
