Apart from ABS, all the other specifications have been carried forward

Gone are those days when safety equipment such as ABS would come fitted only on high-cost premium motorcycles. Now, looking at the increasing number of accidents by the day, various brands have started fitting this technology on their low capacity bikes as well. Suzuki India has taken this scenario very seriously and launched the ABS model of its entry level performance bike the Gixxer SF. The Suzuki GIxxer SF ABS version has been priced at Rs. 95,599 for the carburettor variant while the fuel injected model comes at the price tag of Rs. 99,312 (both prices are ex-showroom, Delhi).

The motorcycle incorporates single-channel ABS which comes fitted on the front wheel only. The rear wheel continues to be anchored by the conventional disc brake. While the cosmetics of the Suzuki Gixxer ABS variant retains the ongoing styling, the only difference is the ABS badge which has been inscribed on the front mudguard. All the cycle parts and motor have been unchanged.

The Suzuki Gixxer SF ABS carries a 155cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine which works in unison with the 5-speed gearbox. The grunty unit churns out 14.5 BHP of maximum power and 14 Nm of peak torque. Suspension duties are handled by the 41mm telescopic forks at the front and mono-shock at the rear. The Suzuki Gixxer stands out of the crowd with its quirky looks boasting a bulbous twin port exhaust and chunky rear wheel which comes shod with radial tyres.

The Suzuki Gixxer SF is the first entry-level performance motorcycle to be offered with ABS braking system. Great Job Suzuki! Perhaps, this will encourage various other brands offering this segment of motorcycles to commence providing the same feature in their products.
