With the price tag of Rs. 42,500, Honda is surely offering the Cliq competitively. But, is it that efficient as well? Specifications say it all.
Honda’s incredible success with the Activa scooter in India motivated the Japanese brand to extend the lineup. With that, the company came up with the Cliq, which is yet another fuel efficient, economical and reliable moped from Honda which has got the guts to rule out all the contenders in its segment. After having said that, lets have a quick look on the Honda Cliq specifications and judge whether it is really as worthy as the company claims with the price tag of Rs. 42,500.
First of all, if you peek underneath the body, the engine is exactly similar to that of the Activa which is a 109.19cc motor. This lightweight engine generates 8.04 BHP of power and 8.94 Nm of torque with automatic transmission. When accelerated at its fullest, it can go maximum up to 83 kmph speed. The factor about which an average Indian buyer is most worried about is the fuel efficiency and the Cliq has been claimed to deliver 60 kmpl which may vary with various aspects.
On the body of the Honda Cliq is strapped plastic material all over, which may be the reason that it weighs minimal 102 kgs. The weight reduction can also be slightly attributed to the small tank which has the capacity of 3.5 litres being smaller than that of both Activa and Navi.
The cycle parts are also closely similar to that of the Activa with identical underbone-type chassis but the wheelbase is comparatively shorter which measures 3mm longer. The 10-inch wheel on both the ends acquires stopping power by 130mm drums being integrated with the exclusive combined-braking system from Honda.
The dimensions of the Honda Cliq, as assured by the company, is perfectly suitable for both male and female since it is neither too bulky nor too narrow. The height of the seat settles at 743mm which is decent and should accommodate all statured riders effortlessly.
This new scooter is not a thing to show off, instead, it is meant for usability and purpose as it has been made keeping in mind rural and semi-urban areas and their chaotic riding conditions. The tyres could be dragged anywhere since they are the block-pattern type and while they are tubeless, it keeps away the worry of puncture for a long time. The convenience seems to be matchless with huge under seat carrier space, spread floorboard and an optional rear carrier box could also be installed.
The design of the Honda Cliq does not mimic just any other scooter in the market while it is unconventional. The rear section may look to be taken from the Navi but the front quickly grabs attention. The short visor runs down into a widening apron holding a sober-looking quadrilateral headlamp. The exposed single unit handlebar completes the look of the scooter. It is available in four colours including patriotic Red with White, Moroccan Blue with White, Orcus Grey and Black.
After knowing all about the Honda Cliq specifications, you may be able to figure out whether it is the next everyday-use machine for your home or you will opt for another stylish but sophisticated moped.
