The Aprilia SR125 scooter is going to face a lot of competition as a few other manufacturers such as TVS are readying its rivals
After enjoying remarkable success with the SR150, Aprilia is all set to launch its younger sibling the SR125. The launch could be expected very soon as the scooter has been spotted at a dealership, in its warehouse though. In the Indian two-wheeler market, the scooter will go against the likes of the Suzuki Access 125 and the newly launched Honda Grazia.
Carrying the same styling, the Aprilia SR125 is only different in terms of powerplant which is a 125cc mill from Piaggio. The same unit does duty on the Vespa SXL range. It churns out 10.6 BHP of power at 7500 RPM and 10.6 Nm of torque at 6000 RPM. However, the engine on this might be gruntier for giving it the traditional Aprilia scooter feel.
Recently, TVS has been found testing its 125cc scooter Dazz which looks to be carrying similar styling including sleek and compact body panels along with large 14-inch wheels. Perhaps, TVS already knew about the Aprilia’s intention to launch this smaller iteration of the SR150 and knowing that the Italian bikemaker may acquire the 125cc segment as well, TVS’s move to launch a rival would be no surprise.
The Aprilia SR!25 will be available in new colour options to differ it from the higher capacity version. It is available in the blue and grey shade along with SR125 stickering. What comes as a surprise is the higher price tag of the SR125 as compared to that of the SR150. It is to be retailed at Rs. 65,309 (ex-showroom) which makes it Rs 3837 dearer to that of the current SR150.
