The 2018 TVS Apache 160 will debut at the 2018 Auto Expo and is highly expected to have higher power and added features.
TVS seems to be on roll. After shaking the market with the entry of its flagship product the Apache RR310, the company seems to be also focussing on entry-level performance segment. The youngest of the highly popular Apache brand, Apache 160 has been spied on the Indian roads revealing most of the style cues. It’s not the first time that the bike has been spied testing as several images and video have been surfacing on the internet for quite some time now.
As per the acquired pictures, the 2018 TVS Apache 160 takes inspiration from the elder sibling Apache RTR 200. Clearly visible in the image is the rear section of the bike which reveals that it depicts the headlamp of RTR 200 along with the similar twin-pipe exhaust, under seat-cowl, grab rail, tire hugger and monoshock. Signifying of it being the younger Apache is the skinnier rear tire. As seen in the previous images, the overall design of the 2018 Apache 160 is on the same lines of the Apache 200 but it isn’t as dynamic as the elder member of the family.
Underneath, the current motorcycle is powered by a 160cc, single cylinder, air-cooled, 4-valve engine which delivers 15.2 HP at 8500 RPM and 13.1 Nm of torque at 4000 RPM. The unit is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The earlier spy video of the bike represents its exhaust note which sounds same as the Apache 200 but isn’t as throaty. We expect the 2018 TVS Apache 160 to deliver a bit higher power to withstand its mean rivals including the Bajaj Pulsar NS 160, Honda Hornet 160, Suzuki Gixxer and Yamaha FZ S Fi V2.0.
